Acetic acid is an aliphatic organic acid. It is a hygroscopic, corrosive liquid with a vinegar-like odor which can be utilized for synthesizing acetic anhydride, cellulose acetate and acetic esters. Glacial acetic acid contains a very low amount of water (less than 1%).
