It is a good solubilizer of silicones, waxes, oils (mineral, vegetal and essential) and other lipophylic substances such as perfumes as well as a coalescent agent in paints and inks. 2-Ethylhexylal is also used as a hydrophobic/water beading additive in car cleaning products.
